It is a Sewamono play premiered at Nakamuraza in 1853. The story is about Yosaburo, a young master of Izuya disowned by his parents, and his lover Otomi.
Today, “Genjidana no ba” is mainly performed on stage. The line spoken by Yosaburo who sees Otomi after a while is widely known as a great line, beginning as “My piddling love turned out to be harmful.”
