It refers to the musical accompaniment or the musician employed in Noh, Kabuki, and so on. In Noh, each of the Nohkan, Kotsuzumi, Otsuzumi, and Taiko is played by one musician. In addition to them, dozens of musical instruments are used in Kabuki, namely the Shamisen, O-daiko, Shinobue, among other instruments.
