From Nakamura Karoku 1st to 3rd, they were born in Osaka. Karoku 1st was a pupil of Nakamura Utaemon 3rd and developed his career as an Onnagata actor. Karoku 3rd was active from the Meiji to Taisho periods. Moving to Tokyo, he specialized Fukeyaku roles in his late career.
Nakamura Kichiemon 1st, a son of Karoku 3rd, was a representative actor in the Taisho and Showa periods. He particularly excelled in the Jidaimono plays.
