Tsuke (sound effect using clappers)
Tsuke struck at the end of an act in “Otonikiku Tenjiku Tokubei”. Bando Hikosaburo 8th (Bando Rakuzen 1st) as Hosokawa Shurinosuke, Onoe Kikugoro 7th as Dainichimaru, and Sawamura Tanosuke 6th as Umezu Kamon. October, 1999 at the National Theatre.
Tsuke is about producing a clattering sound by striking two wooden clappers on a board at the end of the right side of the stage. The clappers are used to emphasize the moment of a Mie pose or to accentuate the footsteps of the actor running out and the sound of something falling onto the floor.
The video shows a way of striking called “Uchiage” to be struck along with a Mie pose at the end of the play. The clattering sound of Tsuke stirs up the ending by gradually increasing the speed of striking.
