Takemoto Gidayu (1651~1714)
In Joruri, there are a “Shamisen player” and “reciter”, the latter of which is called Tayu. Gidayu was active as a Tayu who established a genre of Joruri called Gidayu-bushi in the mid-Edo period. He played a part as a reciter in many works by Chikamatsu Monzaemon, and “Sonezaki Shinju” gained a huge reputation among other works.
