Takeda Izumo 1st (Year of birth unknown~1747)
He was Zamoto at Takemotoza Theatre as well as a Ningyo-Joruri (puppet play) writer in the mid-Edo period. Takemotoza was a playhouse for Ningyo-Joruri (puppet plays) located in Dotonbori, Osaka. Moreover, Zamoto is a position like the manager who is responsible for everything inside a theatre.
Izumo as an author is said to have started his career by writing works under the guidance of Chikamatsu Monzaemon. It is said that “Sugawara Denju Tenarai Kagami” was written mainly by Izumo.
His son also was an author of Ningyo-Joruri (puppet play) and served as Zamoto at Takemotoza Theatre. Later in his career, he called himself Takeda Izumo 2nd. It is said that he was involved in writing such works as “Kanadehon Chushingura” and “Yoshitsune Sembonzakura”.
