One of the Kabuki-Juhachiban plays performed by Ichikawa Danjuro 4th for the first time in 1763.
The script has been lost, but the play is said have dealt with a story of the leading role by Danjuro 4th being possessed by a young woman’s vengeful spirit, and the intensity of a woman’s envy expressed in the Aragoto style.
Though this play had long been abandoned, Ichikawa Sansho 5th (later Danjuro 10th) revived it in 1947 based on a newly written script.
