One of the Kabuki-Juhachiban plays, which is said to have been premiered by Ichikawa Danjuro 4th in 1774, but there is no detailed information available. As illustrated in the Nishike painting, it is a weird story of trying to cut off the head while pretending to shave a beard with a sickle, but the head cannot be cut off.
There is no fixed script, but it was revived by Ichikawa Danshiro 2nd and his son Ichikawa Ennosuke 2nd. Since then, the play has been performed by the Ichikawa Ennosuke family.
