This Kabuki-Juhachiban play was premiered around in 1699 by Ichikawa Danjuro 1st and Danjuro 2nd who was still so young.
Danjuro 2nd in this performance was known for a role of a young girl named Kuretake possessed by a vengeful spirit.
This play was abandoned for a long time, so a fixed script was not passed down to the next generations. It was revived twice during the Showa period. Most recently, Onoe Shoroku 2nd revived it at National Theatre in 1986.
